Mugs at the double
So, you’ve left it late to get your promotional printed mugs? Don’t worry though, we can rush them to you ‘at the double’ in 3 to 5 days but, and herein lies the rub, speed of delivery depends largely on the nature of your artwork and the print method that will be required to produce it. Some print methods are entirely suitable for an express delivery service but some are quite definitely not. Let us explain further …
Screen print is ideal
If your design is composed of spot colours it will be suitable for screen print and if the colours in the design amount to no more than two, then it will be possible to rush your mugs out in 3 to 5 working days. Any more than two colours and delivery goes out to 7 to 15 days, depending upon the total number of component colours of the design. This rule applies to most of our basic promotional mugs, such as Cambridge, Sparta, Bell, Atlantic, etc. and to some of our bone china range, such as Marlborough and Balmoral.
Dye sublimation works also
The print process known as dye sublimation is also ideal for express delivery of promotional mugs. Dye sublimation allows multi-coloured or photographic images to be printed in a single application. This is, therefore, a very speedy print method allowing delivery in 3 to 5 working days as standard with a 48 hour option available at extra charge. There’s quite a range of dye sublimation promotional mugs (aka ‘photo mugs’) available so the choice is extensive.
Transfer print is a ‘no go’
Transfer print is often required as the print process for many bone china mugs and when the design is too complex for screen print. If this is the case, then express delivery is not possible. The reason is simple: transfer print is labour-intensive, requiring individual transfers to be hand-applied to the surface of the mugs before firing. As a result, lead times are between 15 to 20 working days.
